Mad Scientist or Super Hero: Does It Matter?

The answer is no, it doesn't matter.

Tonight's comic is dedicated to the only male student in my class (of ten students). In real life he's even more amazing than his fictional character (Dr. Mastadon, despite the fact that he works with dinosaurs, not mammals) and he did breed an army of hamsters.

Basically, this is an inside joke that I put on the internets because I don't want to slave over a hot tablet tonight. Call me lazy.

I Don't Wanna Be an Old Man Anymore

"The Good Life"

I need to get back to it, yo. (The good life being drawing comics every night.) An old TRS back from the vault. Just for you!

My class is almost over, then my next one starts up next week. Eek. Poor, melted brain.

Overwhelmed, Like Woah.

No comics for almost a week. That's Lame Sauce. Capital letters, even.

More TRS classics this week. And I hope to post several new t-shirts soon.

Because One Project Is Never Enough

When I'm in lab I get to draw in ink and do watercolor and charcoals (my lab notes take forever) working on the tablet becomes really unappealing. However, I'll stop whining now.

I'm actually posting to say that another project I'm working on is up and running officially--Super Briefs Magazine. I think it's a really cool idea (hence why I started it with my good friend, Rachel Corsini) but also gives people a chance to submit who might not otherwise. Our first story is up (by talented author/photographer/general awesome person Nik Brink), and you should submit!

Submitting doesn't take much. You don't have to be a writer (stories are less than or equal to the length of a Twitter post!) and we'll get back to you quickly.

That's all for now, regular comic tomorrow.

After Dinner Addiction

My roommate and I have a package of these after dinner mints (also described as butter mints or dessert mints) and they're so good it's a little gross. In the meantime, early comic so that I can get some sleep tonight after I change embryo cultures.

For those of you who wonder about my living-ness and lack of comic, I'm in class 6 days a week right now, so it's a little intense and I'm trying to get drawing in whenever possible. :)

Sleep Deficit at New Record High

This one explains itself.

For the past three days I've cared for 8 baby cephalopods, so I'm pretty tired (they're all gone from lab now). I'll try and post stuff tomorrow (vids and photos).

Because It's 4am, That's Why

As I have an...erratic sleep schedule, this happens to me often, and there's nothing like birds chirping to remind you that you're still awake, not sleeping, doing work.

Tomorrow there will be another business update along with a comic, but in the meantime, I've got to show those birds who's boss and get some sleep.

The Nicest Compliment I've Gotten This Year

This would also work if you were a zombie trying to pick up a human, but I'm ignoring that for now.

Whilst comicing is important, and a highlight of each and every day for me, I'm working on a super top secret evil plan with a good friend of mine. Expect more on this soon.

101!!

My 101st post, of course it's a TRS. I think I have food poisoning of some kind and really just want to curl up in a blanket, so this still feels appropriate.

Beware the bean salad, folks.

ETA: well, I guess just 100 posts, but there was a comic that got taken down, so really still 101st.

I Dream of Rocketships and Jetpacks

I was rereading old Exploding Dog tonight, so you get some of that madness. I always feel vaguely inadequate after reading this comic, so I'm probably going to have to boost my ego by playing Minesweeper.

Thanks to Maker Faire this weekend, I have the beginnings of my evil robot army. Jetpacks and rocketships are next on my list. Still stalled on the phylum-change serum.

P.S. My trackpad art still leaves a lot to be desired, but I think I'm improving. Tomorrow I'll be home and real art (derisive snort) will resume.

THE ROCKET SCANDAL RETURNS!!

This is a throwback to all my original comics, from the webcomic/doodle I first created called "The Rocket Scandal."

You may remember I posted recently about how these comics were all lost to the sands of time and data corruption.  Well, a friend of mine had copies of all of these secreted away (because he was designing a new TRS website for me), so the jpgs at least were not lost (the original PS documents, yes).

The first comic is the VERY FIRST THING I drew with my tablet.

The second is a personal favorite of mine, "Manatee in Manties," a vocabulary post about manties.

Periodically you'll see some of these classics popping up here on Octopod Adventures.  Some of them will be marked not-safe-for-work because of swearing.  Or I might go back and asterisk a letter.

Anyways, this was the icing on top of my weekend.  I hope yours went as well!

Summertime At Last

As a result, my freckles are getting outrageous.

Hope you all are well. :)

Best Class Ever!

Just a photo for now.

Sorry it's been so long, I've been finishing/recovering from school. Also, I went to kayak camp (otherwise known as WMCKA's symposium) and have been mightily occupied.

Hopefully, tomorrow I'll have some photos of my marine tank as well as a drawing or two finished.

We Call Her the HHQG

New world order! I'm totally there!

Note: she's holding a knitting needle scepter. I <3

Okay, back to homework.

Please note the HHQG is not me. I would probably lead a new world order of merpeople and hispanic food.

Kupcake Kannibalism (Coming up with witty titles is almost as fun as doing the drawing)

Okay.

Today's comic is color your own! That's right, print it up and crayon it out, baby!

I was thinking about this the other day.

If anyone sends this back all colored in, I'll give you innertoobz props.  And an honorable mention. Wewt!

(Posted a day early because Kristy wanted to color.)

A Line from a Song I Like

It's a lyric I am trying to live by, but when I wrote it out in my journal, I drew this little dinosaur buddy below it and it reminded me of a friend who is terrified of dinosaurs and Fraggle Rock.

So, here's to you.

Swinebirdmanflu (Jon Stewart came up with that name)

You'll have to blow this one up to read it.  Very rarely do I do sequential art, mostly because I think it's a huge PITA, but here you go.

For the record, I almost gave the president side bangs.

In all seriousness, please do not go to work or school if you are sick with flu-like symptoms.  I know for me at least, I live with two people who are among susceptible populations.  While I would probably live through it fine, they might not.

And gosh dangit, cover your mouth when you cough.  We learned this in KINDERGARDEN people.  For. Serious.

I Wish There Was More Modern Medicine Could Do for Me

It's fuzzy and a little off kilter, but after two days I finally got this photo to upload correctly.

Those little flaps by my neck would by my gills.

Heart octopuses.

From the Journal (Artsy Fartsy!)

lately I've been doing a lot of these tree doodles and quick sketches (max 30 sec. usually) of trees I see off of the train on my ride to school.

I figured I would try and draw some of these into the 'puter and play with colors and the like.  The orange and blue were actually the colors I drew them in originally because I carry markers with me.

On one of my drawings I have "Trees are fractals" written in as a note.  Hmm.

End of Semester

Yea, you probably all have this moment at some point.

I might start missing days as the end of the semester looms ever closer--though I will hope to just post even photos of my doodles from my journal.

Anyways, yea.  Oh god I'm so nervous.
